Sasakwa youth join students nationwide at 'See You at the Pole' event
SASAKWA — Approximately 40 Sasakwa Public School students, faculty and administration gathered at 8 a.m. before school was in session on the front lawn of the school Sept. 23 to lift up prayers and praise to the Lord.
The student-initiated and led event was one among many across the state and across the nation as students in show of unity of faith gathered to "engage" with God on behalf of their school and community. Prayers of intercession for a school atmosphere of encouragement and affirmation of others made up the concerted focus this year along with many unspoken prayers for fellow students', administrators' and teachers' needs.
This nationwide annual event began 19 years ago in Burleson, Texas, as a local challenge from a handful of high schoolers intent on creating a prayerful attitude which would prevail at the school so there would be an atmosphere of unity and accord. Now, world-wide, hundreds of thousands of students rally at their school flag pole early on a school morning, some as early as the dawn of the new school day in order to worship, sing praises to the Lord and pray. Their prayers also include ones for the nation's leadership and their community along with a desire to ask for God's help to live lives which bring others the message of the Gospel.
Sasakwa has participated in this annual event for the past 14 years.

What value does sin have to our enemy?
As I have thought more about our conversation about what sin is, it occurred to me that our choices to be self-sufficient in meeting our needs our way rather than God’s way must cause some celebration in the enemy camp.
