Coalgate, Stratford tangle in opener
With their teams’ final scrimmages scheduled for different days last week, veteran Stratford coach Michael Blackburn and first-year Coalgate head man Wade Boyles were able to do a little first-hand reconnaisance in advance of Friday’s season-opening renewal of one of the area’s best football rivalries.

Panthers take championship
Latta coach Eddie Collins should have been pretty pleased with his Panthers after watching them cap an impressive run through a good field at the Roff Fall Baseball Tournament with an 11-2 victory over old rival Byng in Saturday’s championship game.

Nice win, ugly loss
For the first four innings of their 4-3 victory over Kingfisher Friday at the Hall of Fame Shootout, the Byng Lady Pirates didn’t appear capable to doing anything with the variety of pitches Kingfisher ace Macey McAlexander was showing them.
