Community Thanksgiving dinner set
ADA — Volunteers are busy planning and raising funds for the Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner for more than 3,000 people Monday, Nov. 23 at Pontotoc County Agri-plex at the fairgrounds on North Broadway.
Turkey, ham, vegetables, hot rolls and desserts will be served free from 5-8 p.m. Meals also can be delivered to the homebound who live inside the Ada city limits.
To request home deliveries in the city limits only, phone the Turkey Hotline at 580-559-5812 by Friday, Nov. 20. The Turkey Hotline also is available to answer questions, accept financial support or volunteers to help set up the dinner, serve the meals, make deliveries or clean up after the dinner.
The dinner is organized annually by members of the Human Resources Club at East Central University with help from volunteers throughout the community.
Call A Ride public transit and the Chickasaw Nation will provide free transportation countywide for people who call by noon Friday, Nov. 20. The telephone number for Call A Ride, which will have handicap vans available, is 580-332-7056. Call Chickasaw Nation Transportation at 1-800-492-2115.
