ECU president speaks to Diamond 'K'
President Juanita Sutton opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Neal Beasley led in prayer. Elvin Jaquess introduced the featured speaker, Dr. Richard Rafes, president of East Central University. He spoke on “Opportunities for a Convention/Conference Center in Ada. During the business session, Pres. Sutton read a letter from Bill Bishop, Kiwanis Gov. of Okla/Texas District. He encouraged members to attend the 2008 Convention in Amarillo, Texas, Aug. 7-9th. He urged all clubs to send delegates to vote on two important issues: eliminating Life Memberships and increasing the tenure of club presidents from 1 year to 2 years. Bob Ardiana, park co-coordinator, announced a party Aug. 19 from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. Two shifts are needed.
Only snow cones will be served from the concession stand. Volunteers are Dan Zimmerman, Andy Hood, Jim Barlow, Billy Rice, Ron Keltner, Lou Moehlman, Charles Barrick, Neal Beasley, and Bob Ardiana.Interclub chairman, M.E. Carr, reminded members that the next interclub would be to Davis July 23. Several members were welcomed back after having been absent. Eldon Billings had surgery and has been recuperating and Billy Rice returned from a trip to South Dakota. Marlene Green’s husband Dean has been in the hospital. Marlene reported that our scholarship recipient, Rachel Hall, was one of his nurses. She also was Eldon Billings’ nurse. The meeting was adjourned.

The Ada Diamond “K” Kiwanis Club meets every Tuesday at 8:00 a.m.at the Ada Public Library on the 2nd floor Meeting Room.

Latta FCCLA officers attend FCCLA Day at capitol
Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America members at Latta High School attended the FCCLA day at the capitol in Oklahoma City.
In attendance were Ryan Oltmans, Southeast District president and Latta chapter president; Tori Watson, SE District secretary and chapter vice president; Ashley Duncan, chapter secretary; Laci Cantrell, chapter historian; Katelyn Oltmans, chapter public relations; and Kim Cupps, chapter advisor. They met with State Rep. Todd Thomsen and State Sen. Susan Paddack. -
Ada residents receive awards of excellence in direct support services
Two Ada residents received awards for the high quality of care they provide to people with developmental disabilities on March 8 at the Governor’s Conference on Developmental Disabilities.
