Ada Realtors work to spread the word
ADA — Ada Board of REALTORS® (ABR) has picked up the mantle of a statewide campaign slogan and is carrying it to local residents. The local board is also releasing an upbeat 2008 first quarter housing report for Ada to reinforce its campaign.
Members of the ABR recently voted to launch a local ad campaign to continue the Oklahoma Association of REALTORS® statewide campaign of 'Good Thing You're in Oklahoma.' The local advertising campaign will be marketed to the citizens of Ada and surrounding areas and to prospective home buyers.
“The Ada Board would like everyone in our area to understand that despite what is happening in the rest of the country, and the negativity being reported by the national media, Ada real estate is growing,” said George Huckeby, 2008 president of the Ada Board of REALTORS® - one of the 25 OAR local boards in the state. “Last year we experienced a 4.8 percent jump in home values compared to the previous year. So we're getting that message out with an advertising campaign called 'Good Thing You're in Oklahoma'.”
As part of the campaign, the AAR is releasing first quarter numbers for the Ada housing market. In the first quarter of 2008, housing values have increased an incredible 34.7 percent. The average cost of a home sold in the first quarter of 2008 was $165,141 versus $122,570 in the first quarter of 2007. Although much of the increase in the average price of a home sold in the Ada area from the first quarter of 2007 to the first quarter of 2008 can be attributed to the sale of one very large piece of property in the area, the increase in value during this time frame shows a continued upward trend.
There were 99 homes sold in Ada in the first quarter of this year compared to 134 homes sold in the first quarter last year. As the numbers clearly show, the Ada real estate market has slowed a bit in sales but the values have continued to grow,” said Huckeby.
Huckeby says, area residents will be seeing 'Good Thing You're in Oklahoma' yard signs, magazine ads and billboards in the next few months.
