Cupps to head new Radio Shack

ADA — The new owners of Ada Radio Shack has announced they will open their doors at 1130 North Hills Shopping Center.

This state-of-the-art location will rival Dallas and Oklahoma City stores. The new Ada Franchise will carry all the items you would expect to find in a big- city store, officials said.

The new manager at Radio Shack is Roger Cupps.

Cupps was born in Ada in 1965 and has spent his whole life in this area. He and wife Rhonda have been married for 22 years and they have three children: Brittany, 20, a sophomore at ECU; Kobi, 15, a sophomore at Ada High School and Brooklyn, 11, a sixth-grader at Willard.

Cupps serves on Ada City Council and is on his third term in the at-large position. He has been very active over the years in local civic cl ubs, serving on the board of directors for the Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club and is a member of Evangelistic Temple. Roger also served a term as CEO of Arlington Merchants Association.

He began his retail career carrying out groceries at Dicus Supermarket in 1981. In 1985 he was promoted to assistant manager with Dicus and worked his way up to store manager at managed the Arlington Center Super Store in 1994 — and later at — Apple Market. In 1998 he became the general manager for Staples and served in that position until 2007, winning many Shopping Awards over the years. He was voted “Ada’s Favorite Boss” two times, once at Apple Market and once at Staples. He holds many awards for service standards and Businessman of the Year Award.

Cupps said he is very excited about his new roll as general manager of Ada Radio Shack. “I look forward to meeting all your needs and offering top level service to all my customers,” he said. “If you shopped with me in the past or if you are looking for a great place to buy your electronics, you will want to check out our new store located in the North Hills Center. Our new store will be state-of-the-art in every way. If you find it in the Radio Shacks in Dallas or Oklahoma City, you will find it in our new store.”
