Ada man’s product to be featured on HGTV
ADA — An Ada man has developed a product designed to help consumers from throwing money down the drain and will be featured nationally tonight on Home and Garden Television.
Jeff Baird, creator of PermaFLOW, a unique device created to eliminate blocked drains, used his oilfield expertise in the development of his product.
“The P-trap, a U shaped drain pipe under the sink, actually serves to prevent sewer gas from entering the kitchen and bathroom while passing water through to the plumbing system,” Baird said. “Most people become familiar with the P-trap when their sink becomes obstructed and overflows. It just made sense to put the drain cleaner in the P-trap itself.”
Baird said for the past nine months, he has put his PermaFLOW to the test at J.D.’s Restaurant.
“It works very well,” said David Haney, owner of J.D.’s Restaurant. “You can see through it and when you get a build up, you have a turn dial you push and then just run a little hot water. I’ve saved myself some plumbing bills.”
Baird has launched six businesses over his 30-year-career. He is currently president of Shamrock R&D; Inc., which also incubates new ideas facilitating the petroleum industry. He currently holds seven U.S. patents, with six patents pending.
He said he is excited to have his product featured on HGTV.
“It’s a real honor,” he said. “I am very excited to hear the feedback from the public regarding the use of the method.”
Baird said he attended the Orgill Fall Dealer Market show in Las Vegas last weekend and his product was met with positive responses.
“They own over 6,000 stores and we received a real good response at the show,” he said. “We hope to be in stores by the end of the year.”
But in the end, Baird said it’s just about helping others.
“I just want to make things easier for people to live,” he said.
See Baird’s PermaFLOW product tonight on Kitchen and Bath 2007 at 8 p.m. on HGTV.
