‘Death of the Old West’ DVD now available

ADA – For those interested in Ada’s infamous 1909 hanging, there’s a definitive new source available on DVD.

“Death of the Old West” is a 30-minute historical documentary about Ada’s hanging incident created by the team behind the award-winning “Explore Ada” television series. The documentary has aired statewide several times on OETA/PBS.

The new DVD includes the “Death of the Old West” documentary as well as the original one-hour version that aired briefly on the city’s government access channel.

Other DVD extras include a trailer for the film and a section about the filmmakers.

“Death of the Old West” is the culmination of more than two years of research and is among the most concise and accurate records of the 1909 hanging incident.

The DVD is available for purchase at Ada City Hall and the East Central University Book Store right now, and will be available August 15 at Hastings in Ada.

The DVD may also be ordered from the website at www.deathoftheoldwest.com.

The filmmakers will be available to sign copies and to answer questions at a DVD release function at Hastings on Saturday, August 15, between 2-6 p.m.
