Tour of Italy scheduled in 2010
ADA — An East Central University sponsored trip to Venice, Florence and Rome takes place in May 2010.
The tour begins at St. Marks Square in Venice followed by a tour of the Doges Palace and the Byzantine cathedral of St. Marks. A stop in Romeo and Juliet's Verona will be made before traveling on to Florence for a tour of the Uffizi Palace, Duomo and Santa Croce the final resting place of Michelangelo.
The Academia where the famous statue of David can be seen will also be included on the tour.
A visit to Assisi on he way to Rome will afford a visit to the birthplace of St. Francis where his life is revealed through the frescos of Giotto. In Rome, travelers will visit the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, Colosseum and Trevi Fountain. Final destinations on the tour include Pompeii, Sorrento and an excursion across the Bay of Naples to Capri.

Showtime, East Central University’s music theatre ensemble, will transform the Chalmers Herman Theatre into a traditional country Hoedown Thursday.

Barbara Tiry of Skiatook, a freshman majoring in speech education at East Central University, outshone all other Oklahoma Poetry Interpreters at the recent Kansas Wesleyan University Border Wars speech and debate tournament. Her poetry presented a humorous look at love.

Jane Elliott, the creator of the “Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes” exercise that illustrates prejudice and bigotry based upon purely arbitrary factors, will speak Wednesday, March 10, at East Central University.
