American Legion

American Legion Auxilary Unit 72 met recently for its monthly meeting. President Barbara Bynum called the meeting to order.

Minutes were read by secretary Lynett Jones. Treasury report was given by Emmelen Allen.

Members decided those who wished could buy a red, blue or white Polo shirt at a store of their choice and the unit would order emblems to sew on them.

The unit made donations, which include sinding money for Christmas to the child it sponsors at Ponca City Children's Home.

Georgia Malone sent a note to advise the club how she is doing since moving to Texas.

Volunteers to visit Sulphur Center are Lynett Jones, Barbara Bynum and Patricia Latshaw.

Next meeting is Nov. 10.

Those present were Della Hill, patricia Latshaw, Angie Tatum, Kim Potter, Barbara Bynum, Lynett Joens, Emmelen Allen, new member Joan Jennings and junior member Jodi Spencer.

Melody Makers

Mature Melody Makers, an adult singing group of First Baptist Church, particiated in evening service at New Bethel Baptist Church Sunday, oct. 11. Betty Wynn was pianist and Harold Ware was the director.

The choir sang "Victory Medley," with Lois Gilley doing a part of it as a solo. The Rev. Dale Dunnagan welcomed the group to New Bethel. The choir sang a variety of songs including "Because He Lives," with the Rev. Holt Sodeman singing the third verse as a solo.

The Ladies Ensemble sang two songs. Dr. Don Stafford gave a poem he had written and Billy Jack sang a special solo. Mary Sue Roberts told "Minnie Pearl" stories.

Those doing the program were Bea Barrick, Dr. Don Stafford, Jennie Girdley, Nell Goforth, Don and Martha Martin, Carl and Lois Gilley, Mary Sue Roberts, Betty Wynn, Harold Ware, Doris Brooks, Delores Moore, Doug and Tubby Davis, the Rev. Kenneth and Vonnye Elkins, Jackie Wells, Jean Haworth, Ann Holmann, Billy Jack, the Rev. Holt and Mary Kay Sodeman.

Others attending from First Baptist Church were Jane Stafford, the Rev. Jerry Wells, Carolyn Jack, Mel Hayworth and Natalie Hilton.

Mature Melody Makers met at First Baptist Church Oct. 1. After a short business meeting, they went to Ballard Nursing Center to give a program for the residents. Harold Ware was the director and Betty Wynn was the pianist.

The choir sang 13 hyms. The Ladies Ensemble sang two hymns. Dr. Don Sstafford recited a poem he had written. Mary Sue Roberts told humorous stories. The Rev. Kenenth Elkins gave the closing prayer.

Those giving the program were Don and Martha Martin, Betty Wynn, Harold Ware, Doris Brooks, Dr. Don Stafford, Mary Sue Roberts, Jackie Wells, Jean Hayworth, Marie Spears, Delores Moore, Doug and Tubby Davis, Ann Holman, the Rev. Kenenth Elkins, Vonney Elkins, Jennie Gridley, Viola Dew, Carl and Lois Gilley, Nell Goforth, the Rev. Holt and Mary Kaye Sodeman. A guest was Natalie Hilton, granddaughter of Jean and Mel Hayworth. Joining the group was the Rev. Jerry Wells, Jane Stafford and Jerry Duncan.

VVRH Auxilary

Members of Valley View Regional Hospital Auxiliary met in the classrooms on Sept. 17.

State Auxiliary leader Glenna Lasiter, installed the following officers for the next year: Nancy Riggle, president; Janet Barrett, president elect; Bob Waller, treasurer; Bobbie Plumlee, assistant treasurer; Chuck Perry, secretary; adn Lois Morgan, parliamentarian.

Mary Sue Roberts, cheer leader, entertained by telling humorous stories. Mary Krause, new employee, was introduced. Danny Coats gate the status of the hospital and thanked members for all they do for the hospital. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Chuck Perry.

Bob Waller gave the treasurer's report Sandy Royston was selected as Volunteer of Ada. Nancy Riggle opened the meeting. Catharine Choate thanked members for the good work they do.
