MONDAY

DEC. 21, 2009

• Ada City Council meets the first and third Monday each month at 5:45 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall unless the day falls on a holiday. Meetings are also televised live on cable channel 11.

• Pontotoc County Alcoholics Anonymous group meets at 8 p.m. at Central Church of Christ, 820 Stadium Drive, Ada. Open meeting.



TUESDAY

DEC. 22, 2009

• Ada Public Library will be having Holiday Crafts for children ages 3-10 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. The event is come and go and will be in the children’s section of the library.

• An old-time Christmas in Memory Lane takes place at 5 p.m. downtown Allen. A handmade life-size nativity will be on display, carolers will sing Christmas songs, and a country kitchen concession will be serving popcorn, finger foods, hot cider, wassail, hot coffee and hot chocolate. Santa will arrive in surprise transportation and will sit in the gazebo in a specially made Santa chair handing out candy canes. Pictures of the children will be taken with a lighted Christmas tree as the backdrop. The event is sponsored by The Allen Historical Society and is open to the public. Those wishing to dress in vintage clothing are encouraged to do so.

• TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets at 8:15 a.m. each Tuesday on the second floor of Irving Center, located at the corner of Fourth and Oak streets in Ada. TOPS is a weight support group.



WEDNESDAY

DEC. 23, 2009

• A dance is held every Wednesday at the Irving Community Center, 704 N. Oak, from 7:30-10 p.m. The cost is $6 per person.



THURSDAY

DEC. 24, 2009

• The local Alcoholics Anonymous group meets Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. in fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church, 301 E. Kings Rd. For more information, phone Daniel G. at (580) 332-3503.

• Pontotoc County Alcoholics Anonymous group meets at 8 p.m. at Central Church of Christ, 820 Stadium Drive, Ada. Open meeting.

DEC. 26, 2009

• Alcoholics Anonymous Men’s Only Discussion Group meets at 8 a.m. at Central Church of Christ. Closed meeting. For more information, phone Craig R. at 580-399-8838.

• Ada American Legion Post 72 sponsors Bingo Saturday nights at 6 and 7:30 p.m. The Post hall is located at 3529 N. Broadway, Ada. Refreshments are available. Proceeds finance veterans and their families, scholarships and Boys and Girls State.

• Byng High School Drama/Debate reunion or graduating classes 1989 through 1994 (Judy Schallhorn’s students) will be Saturday, Dec. 26, at 6 p.m. at Byng High School student center. Bring pictures and snacks to share.

• Pontotoc County Alcoholics Anonymous group meets at 8 p.m. at Central Church of Christ, 820 Stadium Drive, Ada. Open meeting.

• Ada High Leadership class has collected numerous items to send overseas to those who are serving our country. • A benefit for the Matt Logsdon family, whose home was damaged by fire, will be at Fittstown Baptist Church. A brisket dinner will kick off at 5 p.m. A Servant’s Heart will begin singing at 6 p.m. A pie and cake auction begins at 7 p.m. All donations will be accepted.
