• A public meeting will be held by Big Five Community Services Inc at 6 p.m. in the Roff Head Start Center at Fitzhugh school, 21880 CR 33499, Fitzhugh. The prupose of the meeting will be to elect a board member to represent the low-income sector in Pontotoc County and enlist the participation of the low-income community in the planning and development of CSBG program for 2009.

• The Combat Infantrymen’s Association (CIA) is now recruiting for new members. Membership into this elite group of men is open to Army infantry veterans who have served in a foreign war and earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. • Ada Masonic Lodge will host a brisket dinner from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and from 5-7 p.m. at 730 Crestview. Cost is $8 per ticket. Profits will be used to fund local charities.
