• A public meeting will be held by Big Five Community Services Inc at 6 p.m. in the Roff Head Start Center at Fitzhugh school, 21880 CR 33499, Fitzhugh. The prupose of the meeting will be to elect a board member to represent the low-income sector in Pontotoc County and enlist the participation of the low-income community in the planning and development of CSBG program for 2009.

• The Combat Infantrymen’s Association (CIA) is now recruiting for new members. Membership into this elite group of men is open to Army infantry veterans who have served in a foreign war and earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. • A come-and-go event to observe Equal Pay Day is from 5:30 - 7 p.m. at Mrs. B’s Cafe, 1004 E. 32nd. For more information, phone Ada Business and Professional Women at 399-5119.

• Divorce/Bereavement Support Group meets a 7 p.m. at Compassion Outreach Center, 1124 Cradduck Road, Ada. The group offers support for those who have lost a loved one through divorce or death. For more information, phone Tom at 332-6506.

• A dance is held every Wednesday at the Irving Community Center, 704 N. Oak, from 7:30-10 p.m. The cost is $6 per person.

• Al-Anon meets Fridays at 8 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church at 17th Street and Broadway in Ada.

• Men’s Discussion Group of Alcoholic Anonymous meets at 8 a.m. at 105 W. Main Street. The closed group meeting will be held in the back of Cashflow, next to Gem Jewelers. For more information, phone Craig R. at 580-399-8838.

• Ada Masonic Lodge will host a brisket dinner from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and from 5-7 p.m. at 730 Crestview. Cost is $8 per ticket. Profits will be used to fund local charities.

•Alcoholics Anonymous meets each weekday from noon until 1 p.m. and again from 8-9 p.m. and Weekends from 10-11 a.m. and 8-9 p.m. at 431 S. Mississippi (between 14th and 15th Streets on Mississippi Ave in Ada). All meetings are open and anyone who is interested in learning more about the program is invited to attend.

• Al-Anon meets Sundays at 8 p.m. at Central Church of Christ at 820 Stadium Drive in Ada.

• Ada City Council meets the first and third Monday each month at 5:45 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall unless the day falls on a holiday. Meetings are also televised live on cable channel 11.

• Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1194 meets at 7 p.m. the first Monday of each month in the upstairs music room of Ada Public Library.
