◊ A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. for the new Pontotoc County Health Department and the Oklahoma Department of Human Services at the building site, 1/2 mile east of the signal light on Arlington and Country Club on the north side of Arlington Ave.

◊ Pontotoc County Retired Educators’ Association will meet at 11 a.m. at Ada Elks Lodge for a luncheon meeting. A special award, “The Pioneer Educator of the Year," will be presented.

◊ Ada Masonic Lodge will be holding its annual chili dinner at 730 Crestview. Tickets are available at the door for $6. The meal includes chili, stew, drinks and dessert. The doors will be open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.

◊ First Presbyterian Church of Ada is sponsoring Alternative Gift Market and Ten Thousand Villages Crafts Sale at the East Central University's old Student Union building from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

◊ The 36th annual Troop 4/Pack 4 Chili Feed will be held at the First Christian Church, 13th and Broadway. Homemade chili, beef stew and corn bread, and homemade pie will be served from 4:30-7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 11 years old. Tickets may be purchased at the door; carry-out meals are available. For more information, phone 332-3564.

◊ Alpha Gamma Delta is hosting a spaghetti luncheon from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., at First Pentecostal Holiness Church (1930 Arlington, behind Orschelns). Tickets can be purchased at the door. Cost is adult- $7, children age 4-12 is $5, 3 years and younger are free. For delivery in Ada, phone 580-221-1792. ◊ Tyler Smith Memorial Team Roping takes place at Murray State College Rodeo Arena. Books open at 9 a.m. Roping begins at 10 a.m. Participants must have a current USTRC card and proof of current negative Coggins before unloading. Proceeds go toward the Tyler Smith Scholarship Fund. ◊ Kiwanis Club of Ada is hosting a Bicycle Rodeo at the Wal-Mart parking lot from 10 a.m. to noon. The objective is to come learn bicycle safety skills. There will be prizes given away for some of the children.

◊ Ada High Cheer Boosters are hosting a Childcare Day for students Pre-K through sixth grade from 1-5 p.m. at U-Turn. The cost will be $20 for one child, and $10 per sibling. A silent auction will also be held featuring Silpada jewelry. For more information, contact Sheri Hayes, at 272-6813.

◊ Union Valley Volunteer Fire Department will be having a chili supper from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Union Valley Fire Department located on State Highway 3 toward Stonewall from Ada. Signs will be posted. Menu includes all-you-can eat chili, Frito pie and trimmings. The organization will be sponsoring ECU Nursing Program senior class which will be selling chances to win Lazer Zone passes.

◊ American Legion Bingo every Saturday from 6-10 p.m. at the American Legion Building on North Broadway (next to the Pepsi plant). The event is open to the entire family. Snack bar available. Proceeds go to fund American Legion projects. For more information, phone 559-2732.

◊ Showtime, East Central University’s Music Theater group, will be presenting its first cabaret with songs from the South Pacific, Aladdin, 42nd Street, The Last 5 years and Lion King. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. at Dorothy Smmers Auditorium on the East Central University campus. It is free and open to the public.
