Pogues honored with anniversary reception
OAKMAN — Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Pogue, Oakman, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple's children and grandchildren are hosting a reception from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 2, 2009, at Wintersmith Park Lodge.
R.C. Pogue and Ruth Joplin were married Aug. 1, 1959, at Dow, Okla.
Mr. Pogue worked as a carpenter in Burkburnett, Texas, before returning to Ada in 1967. Over the next years, he worked for B.H. Todd & Sons Construction Company, Norman Todd Construction and was eventually self-employed before his retirement in 1999.
Mrs. Pogue worked as a sales clerk at Dillon's Department Store from 1974-1975. She then worked for Byng School system until her retirement in 2007.
The couple's children are as follows: Cheryl Forehand and her husband, Charles Hugh, Ada; Carol Williamson and her husband, Mike, Ada; Jimmy Pogue and his wife, Lisa, of Ada; and Dr. Darrell Pogue, deceased.
Their grandchildren are Ashley Forehand, Stacy Forehand, Lindsay Kates and her husband Chris, Kelsey Williamson, Kortney Williamson, Weston Pogue, Megan Pogue and Ryan Pogue, all of Ada. Great-grandchild is Cason Kates, Ada.
